Architectural Lighting Trends to Watch

Modern building facade lighting

Architectural lighting is moving away from visible fixtures and towards light that is built into the structure itself. Here are the trends we see most in current projects.

Light as part of the architecture

Trimless profiles and shadow-gap details hide the source of light so that only the effect is visible. Walls, ceilings and skirting lines glow without any visible fitting.

Warm-dim and tunable white

LEDs that warm up as they dim, or that can be tuned from cool to warm white, let one space work for both day and evening use.

Fewer, better fixtures

Instead of many ceiling lights, designers plan fewer, well-placed sources: linear lines, focused spots and indirect coves.

Facade and landscape lighting

Buildings are being designed to look good at night too, with wall-washing, uplighting and highlighted architectural lines.
